~Celebrates her special guest of honour in grand style
On Tuesday 13th December, 2022, Pamo University of Medical Sciences (PUMS), Port Harcourt, Rivers State graduated its 2nd batch of students of Basic Medical Sciences (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry and Pharmacology).
In the same event which was held at the University main auditorium also had the first graduating set of Bachelor of Nursing as well as Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science Degrees. These are the academic components of the Nursing programme and that of Medical Laboratory Science.

“Pamo University of Medical Sciences, Rivers State has a national record of being the first University to graduate and induct new nurses within a record time of five years in Nigeria. This is because, the school has world class equipment and teaching staff. Nursing Graduates from the institution meritoriously gain 4 qualifications via, Registered Nurse, Registered Midwife, Registered Public Health Practitioner and academic qualification of B.Sc Nursing. This is a rare combination in Nigeria.”
Interestingly, the University has started the Radiography programme, making it the 6th University in Nigeria to offer the programme.
Highlights of the Convocation includes the presentation of prizes to all the best graduating students; especially, the overall best student (Nathaniel Chimeka Deborah who made the cumulative grade point of 4.81 in Faculty of Allied Health Science) and the lecture delivered by Kanu Agabi SAN, former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.

The event also featured the presentation of gift items on behalf of the governing council,Senate,Staff and Students of the institution to His Excellency,Chief Barr.Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike, CON, GSSRS, POS Africa Life Bencher, Executive Governor, Rivers State who doubles as the special guest of honour on the auspicious occasion of his birthday anniversary today.

Gov. Wike who was ably represented by Prof. Prince Chinedu Mmom JP. (Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Education) Rivers State. In his speech expressed his heart felt appreciation to the institution for sharing in his utmost joy. Thereafter,supported the university with the total sum of Five hundred million naira. Again,renewed the existing scholarship for all Rivers State indigenes in the institution.
Conclusively,it is worthy of note that PUMS is the first private University of Medical Sciences in Nigeria.
